Internship Program
Background:
Charleston County Government’s Internship Program is designed to provide college juniors and seniors with opportunities to explore and learn about transportation occupations related to their majors.
Internships are embraced by local government as a way to promote diversity and provide exposure to occupational areas that will expand career awareness and opportunities. Female, minority, unemployed and underemployed students are encouraged to apply for internship opportunities.
Charleston County residents receive first consideration of OJT opportunities that are created as a result of contract awards.
Who should apply for the OJT Program:
- College juniors, seniors and recent graduates
- Students seeking 20-40 hours of summer employment per week
- Students with an interest in or majoring in transportation or a related occupational area
- Students with a GPA of 2.5 or better
- Student interested in learning all phases of transportation or engineering related work
Internship benefits:
- Potential employment upon graduation
- Salary during internship experience
- Possible summer employment through graduation
- Resume enhancement
