Glenn McConnell Parkway/Bees Ferry Intersection Improvements (West Ashley Traffic Circle)

The West Ashley Traffic Circle will be located at the intersection of Bees Ferry Road and Glenn McConnell Parkway in the City of Charleston. One quarter of this road is already in existence. This project will construct the remaining three quarters of the circle and intersect with Bees Ferry Road in two locations.

The major components of the project improvements are:

  • Construction of a four-lane road with a landscaped median.

  • Installation of curb and gutter and an 11-foot multi-use path (bicycle and pedestrian) along both sides of the West Ashley Circle.

  • Construction of on-street parking.

  • Decorative mast-arm traffic signals will be installed at the intersections of Bees Ferry Road. The new traffic signals will include pedestrian hand/man signals and improved crosswalks.

  • Improvements to the roadway and a new drainage system that will include curb and gutter, catch basins, water quality measures and drainage pipes.
