Public & Media Relations The Charleston County RoadWise Program is charged with implementing highway and roadway projects funded by the Transportation "Half-Cent" Sales Tax. Because this is a public program, Charleston County RoadWise considers public information a priority. In keeping with the goal of ensuring that the Charleston County public is informed the program has created a Public Relations and Media Office. Its purpose is to get information on proposed roadway projects and other programs related to the Transportation Sales Tax to the public in a precise, accurate and expedient manner. One Way that we are accomplishing this task includes a weekly Comcast Cable channel program designed to answer public inquiries and concerns as well as report on the progress of projects. The Comcast program will begin in the fall of 2006 and will feature discussions with government officials, project engineers, and citizens and provide video of project sites. In addition, there will be reports on the expenditure of funds from the Transportation Sales Tax. In order to further promote RoadWise activities and to acquaint the public with the program, a series of public service announcements are being developed for local radio and television broadcasts. Children's educational activities are also being designed to build understanding of the value of transportation projects such as roadway systems in our every day lives.
