A Comprehensive Transportation Plan for Charleston County

The Transportation Sales Tax ordinance assured opportunity for public input in the creation of a Comprehensive Transportation Plan for Charleston County.  The series of public meetings kicked off the development of the plan, which was completed by Spring of 2006.

The Comprehensive Transportation Plan includes:

  • A forecast of Charleston County road projects over the next 25 years
  • A review of funding sources and leverage options
  • A review of the mass transit (CARTA and RTMA)

A copy of the plan can be viewed at all Charleston County Public Libraries, Municipal offices and Public Schools, and online at http://www.smallchangeforbigchange.org/.


The Transportation Advisory Board
A Transportation Advisory Board (TAB) was created by Charleston County Council to make recommendations on transportation sales tax expenditures for transportation projects.
